'The Tiger Who Came To Tea' Airs On Channel 4 Tonight

The Tiger Who Came To Tea is airing on telly tonight for your Christmas Eve viewing pleasure.

We learnt the hit children's book was being animated for our screens earlier this year, and now, after patiently waiting, the time has finally arrived for us to see the end product in all its glory.

Airing on Channel 4 tonight at 7.30pm, the Judith Kerr classic will be the perfect nostalgic throwback to ease you into the festivities, whatever your age.

It has been created by Lupus Films, the makers of 2016's We're Going On A Bear Hunt - the adaptation of Michael Rosen and Helen Oxenbury's infamous book.

Produced by Ruth Fielding, the adaptation will be voiced by an all-star cast, featuring Selma star David Oyelowo as the Tiger, Friday Night Dinner's Tamsin Greig as the Mummy and Sherlock actor Benedict Cumberbatch as Daddy.

Meanwhile Britain's Got Talent judge and Little Britain legend David Walliams will narrate the animation after the author personally asked him to take part before her death in May.

Judith's 1968 book has sold 5 million copies since its release and is a staple in everyone's childhood.

If you by some chance haven't read the classic (where have you been?!), it tells the story of a tiger who turns up unannounced at Sophie's house and eats everything for tea.

Late author Judith also wrote the Mog The Forgetful Cat series - which, quite frankly, our childhoods wouldn't have been the same without.

She recently received an Oldie Of The Year award and spoke to the audience about where her idea for the Tiger book came from.

Judith said: "The Tiger Who Came To Tea is a story I made up for my two-year-old daughter, who was very bossy.

"So when she and her brother were both at school I thought I'd try to make it into a picture book."

"I used to tell her all sorts of other stories as well, which I thought were perfectly good, which she dismissed with the words 'Talk the Tiger'."

We can't wait to see her vision come to life.
