We've dearly missed Tom Hardy brightening up our screens over lockdown (well, apart from watching his Bedtime Stories on repeat), but now the British actor is back with a brand new project - and we could not be more excited.

The Venom star, 43, has teamed up with producer and director Gareth Evans for a brand new Netflix film, after Gareth agreed to work alongside the streaming service for a number of new projects.

His first outing for Netflix is titled HAVOC, a gritty drama which sees Tom (who will also serve as producer on the film) as a detective rescuing a politician's son while unravelling a web of corruption in his city.

The project was confirmed by the official NetflixFilm Twitter account. Further details around HAVOC are still to be announced.

It's certainly a change for Tom, who we previously heard on TV trying to make Brussel Sprouts sexy for Marks & Spencer.

We can expect HAVOC to be a gory and gripping outing, with Gareth having served as a director on the popular series Gangs of London, which aired on Sky last year.

The series, known for its intense and blood-drenched scenes, saw the impulsive Sean Wallace (played by Peaky Blinders star Joe Cole) stand in at the head of a powerful crime syndicate after his dad, Finn Wallace, is assassinated.

In other Netflix news, the on-demand giant has confirmed that Tim Burton will be at the helm of a spooky new series that will serve as a spin-off from sitcom classic, The Addams Family.

Wednesday is set to follow Wednesday Addams' teenage years, as a student at Nevermore Academy.

There, we see her trying to harness her emerging psychic abilities in order to help in the fight against a killer that has descended on her local area.

Plus, she will set off trying to "solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago - all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships of the strange and diverse student body."
