Whether it is true-crime or comedy, it seems like we are always on the look-out for a new series with rave reviews to binge-watch.
But there is no need to spend hours searching Netflix for your next hit, as this new TV adaptation of My Brilliant Friend will be your new obsession this December.

Based on the first novel of the same name of a total of four books by Italian writer Elena Ferrante, the eight-part Italian-language series centres on the friendship between two women.
At age 60, one of the women goes missing, and the series flicks between past and present of their childhood and teenage years.
The story kicks off when Elena Lenù receives a phone call from the son of her childhood friend Raffaella 'Lila' Cerullo. Lila has gone missing, taken her clothes and destroyed family photos. Elena's response is gripping and teases a complication history.

As the synopsis puts it best: "When the most important friend in her life seems to have disappeared without a trace, Elena Greco, a now-elderly woman immersed in a house full of books, turns on her computer and starts writing the story of their friendship. Lila is portrayed by Ludovica Nasti and Gaia Girace, and Elena by Elisa Del Genio and Margherita Mazzucco.

My Brilliant Friend was first released in the States on HBO, and was a global hit. But fear not, as us Brits will no longer have to miss out on the series, and you don't have to wait for episodes to drop on a weekly basis either.
The finale has already aired on Sky so the entire series is now available to stream on Sky Go app's catch-up feature, and you can also watch back-to-back episodes on NOW TV.
A follow-up miniseries, which will be based on novelist Elena's second Neopolitan novel, has already been announced by producers, so there's a promise of future binge-watching ahead.
