Season five of Brooklyn Nine-Nine just landed on UK Netflix today, just in time for a weekend of binge-watching.

The streaming giant announced earlier this year that the cop comedy would be coming to the platform, and now the day is finally here.

Netflix chose to let a fan announce the news, who had asked 'every day for months' when the subscription service would add Brooklyn Nine-Nine season five for viewers.

"Darcy has been asking when b99 s5 is coming basically every day for the last few months, so we decided to let her give you the good news," Netflix said on Twitter, retweeting Dary's original message: "Clear your schedule because 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' season 5 is coming to @NetflixUK on March 8th! very noice!"

Up until now, UK Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans have only been able to enjoy seasons one to four on Netflix.

It's easy to forget that viewers almost had the cop show torn away from them completely after Fox failed to renew the series after five seasons this time last year.

Thankfully, the beloved comedy was picked up by NBC, and the channel seems keen to keep it going as it has just been given a seventh series.

"It's been one of our great joys as a network to give Brooklyn Nine-Nine a second life," explained Lisa Katz and Tracey Pakosta, Co-Presidents of Scripted Programming, NBC Entertainment.

"Cheers to Dan Goor, Mike Schur, Luke Del Tredici and David Miner, and our amazing cast and crew who each week turn New York's finest into New York's funniest."

The news of a seventh season was announced to fans on Twitter using a video of the cast being told themselves...

In the clip, a woman could be heard telling the group: "You know how happy and proud we were to have you on NBC this season and we are even happier to say that we would love to have you back next season."

Those in the room cheered and applaused over the announcement, and Terry Crews (Terry Jeffords) jumped up in excitement. Andy Samberg (Detective Jake Peralta) hammered his fists on the table too, echoing the excitement of Brooklyn Nine-Nine fans.

Happy binge-watching season five for now!
