Netflix’s Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina Thought About Changing Salem To A Dog

Netflix's The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina almost had to change Salem to a dog because Kiernan Shipka is allergic to cats.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina thought about changing Salem to a dog after Kiernan Shipka, who plays Sabrina told crew members that she was allergic to cats.

Sabrina and her cat Salem go hand in hand as witches and their cats do, so we can only imagine the reactions fans would have had if Salem was in fact a dog.

Of course, it isn't Kiernan's fault that she has allergies and she bravely agreed to keeping Salem as a cat as long as she could keep her distance.

Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa told Entertainment Weekly: "I get a call that says, 'Kiernan is allergic to the cat.

"It did go through my mind... could Salem be a dog?"

Kiernan explained that they cope by keeping at a distance and it is almost like when you get two cast members that don't like each other.

Netflix

The new Netflix series debuted it's trailer yesterday and it looks pretty creepy.

Produced byt the same people as Riverdale, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina shouldn't be mistaken with the teenage sit-com from Nickelodeon as the Netflix reboot takes a much darker spin on the story.

According to Netflix, the reboot "imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina The Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft.

"Tonally in the vein of Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature - half-witch, half-mortal - while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit."

Luckily, the reboot is set to land on Netflix on 26th October, so we haven't got too long to wait before we can discover the intrepid adventures of Sabrina.

Roberto who also wrote the comic added: "We're all such huge fans of Kiernan's work that when we started talking about who this new incarnation of Sabrina could be, her name was on everyone's wish list. This is a darker, more macabre version of Sabrina, and we're incredibly excited for people to see Kiernan make this iconic character her own."
