Renée Zellweger stars as a mysterious and seductive woman in Netflix's latest thriller, and it's a far cry from the red wine-drinking, unlucky-in-love Bridget Jones that all knew and loved.
What/If is described as a "neo-noir thriller" that looks at the butterfly effect when "acceptable people start doing acceptable things."
The bio for the 10-part series reads: "In this neo-noir thriller series, a pair of cash-strapped newlyweds accept a lucrative but morally dubious offer from a mysterious female benefactor."

By the sounds of things, Renée plays the said "mysterious female benefactor", called Anne.
Her character is described as "a shrewd, mercurial venture capitalist whose success and carefully managed public persona are the result of a searing devotion to her unapologetic post-feminist doctrine, as exemplified by the title of her best-selling book, At Any Cost," according to The Hollywood.
In the trailer, Zellweger seductively asks "what if I made you an offer to extraordinary to refuse?" before slowly making her way into a party in killer heels and then mysteriously dropping a chess piece onto a chessboard. It makes no sense right now, but we're assuming as more trailers are released, it'll begin to make sense.
What/If is Zellwegers first ever TV series regular role, as she stars alongside Jane Levy, Blake Jenner, Samantha Ware, Keith Powers, Daniella Pineda, Juan Castano, John Clarence Stewart and Dave Annable.

The Hollywood Reporter says each season will deal with a different morality issue, inspired by "culturally consequential source material and the power of a single fateful decision to change the trajectory of an entire life."
It sounds... intense.
The series is executive produced by Mike Kelly, known best for his work on ABC's Revenge and Page Fright's Melissa Loy, Alex Garner and Atlas Entertainment's Charles Roven, as well as Robert Zemeckis and Jack Rapke from Compari Entertainment. It is produced by Warner Bros. For Netflix.
