Good Morning Britain viewers have heaped praised on author who took on Piers Morgan about his opinions on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The no-holds-barred interview, which aired in the US overnight, saw Meghan claim she had suicidal thoughts when she was a working member of the royal family, and that a senior royal had expressed concerns about how "dark" her son Archie's skin colour will be.

Naturally, the televised discussion was a huge talking point on breakfast television, with GMB host Piers Morgan particularly affronted by Meghan and Harry's accusations.

However, when discussing the interview with a panel of journalists, Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, author of This Is Why I Resist, decided to call the controversial broadcaster out for some of his opinions.

"Let me give my reaction to you, Piers," she began. "You're such a liar and a disgrace.

"You bring up coverage of Meghan and Harry's wedding day, and their engagement, but conveniently don't bring up the coverage they had before they got engaged, between the engagement. You forget that Prince Harry brought up in November 2016 his complaints about the racist undertones of the media.

"You conveniently forgot all of that to paint this picture that all was rosy and hunky-dory. Nonsense. Then you laud the Queen. Listen, let's applaud the Queen when she's done something right, but when she's done something wrong, we need to call her out."

Piers then interrupted Dr Shola, asking: "What did the Queen do wrong?"

Dr Shola continued: "What kind of grandmother will be so close to her grandson, Harry, but then not use her power and influence as Queen to protect them for the racist media coverage?"

Referring to allegations that have circled Prince Andrew, Dr Shola said: "What kind of grandmother protects her own son for the potential crime of raping a minor, but will do jack all to protect Harry and Meghan? Especially, as I have no doubt, she would have heard about the suicidal thoughts and the help and support she needs?

The argument on GMB became heated (

"And then you sit there, hammering on about how the Royal Institution is not racist. Or are you out of your godforsaken mind?

"The royal family as an institution is rooted in colonialism, white supremacy and racism. The legacy is right there. So you are now surprised that a comment made by members of the royal family about how dark Archie's skin is. I am shocked you are more outraged that Harry and Meghan had the audacity to speak their truth than you should be at the actual outrage of racism."

Piers retaliated by saying what Dr Shola had said about Queen Elizabeth II was "disgusting", to which Dr Shola hit back: "You are disgusting."

Dr Shola won praise on Twitter for her straight-talking, clear-headed view and for not giving in to Piers' constant interruptions.

"Thank God for intelligent, articulate women like Dr Shola who have what it takes to criticise the professional s*** stirring of Piers Morgan and the way he uses his platform, leaving him left with no reply other than 'leave my queen alone!'" wrote one GMB viewer who shared the clip.

"She's right, what sort of Grandmother, a Queen no less allows this to happen? The Queen should have shut down every tabloid rumour, every sensational story," added another viewer.

"I want to hear Dr Shola's opinion more," a third chipped in.

"Shola didnt even bash the Queen, she literally pointed out her wrongdoings and those of the Royal Household as a whole. Love the Royals. Love the Queen. Whatever. It doesn't absolve them from criticism. They've done some great things but also some highly questionable things," a fourth said.
