Married At First Sight has become one of Channel 4's most popular dating shows and while fans wait for series six, fans have become obsessed with the Australian version.

The sixth series of Married At First Sight Australia is currently airing on E4 and it's filled with drama. In case you didn't know, the Australian version has a similar concept to Channel 4's adaption - strangers are paired together by "experts" and meet for the first time at the altar.

Like the British version, Married At First Sight Australia is based on the Danish series of the same name, however legal restrictions in Australia mean that the couples do not partake in a legally-binding marriage, but rather an unofficial commitment ceremony.

The sixth series begins with a group of singles celebrating their final night as singletons at extravagant stag and hen parties. All couples were wed in the same week after they met in a series of dinner parties and weekly re-commitment ceremonies.

The contestants are only permitted to leave the experiment if both were present and consented to do so. If one partner chooses to stay and the other chooses to leave, the couple were required to stay for another week. They are then be sent off on their honeymoon, before moving in together for two weeks.

In a series first, the men and women were encouraged to spend time together separately. They were then sent off in groups to Gold Coast, testing each couple's bond.

And fans of the series are completely enthralled by all the drama that ensues. One viewer tweeted: "Married at First Sight Australia is so chaotic".

While another joked: "Married at First Sight Australia is the best thing I've ever seen."

A third added: "So I'd started watching Married At First Sight Australia and quite frankly it's so crazy yet I'm gripped!"

"It's amazing what a night of eating pizza and chocolate whilst watching 'Married At First Sight: Australia' can do," one woman said.
