Netflix's new chess drama The Queen's Gambit is already making waves among fans, but now viewers are talking about the new TV show for a different reason, as some fans are only just realising that a major Love Actually character appears in the limited series.

Yes, that's right, Love Actually's Sam, aka actor Thomas Brodie-Sangster, plays the show's Benny, Beth's friend and chess competitor.

Best known for his portrayal of the loveable young boy pursuing his heart and chasing classmate Joanna through the airport in the 2003 film, the 30-year-old actor (yep, we can't believe it either) appears on screen alongside Anya Taylor-Joy, who plays chess prodigy Beth Harmon.

And fans have had a lot to say about the casting.

"I was today years old when I found out that Benny from The Queen's Gambit is the little boy from Love Actually and now I feel about a 100 years old...," said one viewer on Twitter and, same tbh.

"One of the main characters in Queen's Gambit is played by the little boy from Love Actually and I'm losing it," said another.

And while some viewers needed this brand new information pointed out to them:

"Husband just pointed out that the Love Actually kid on the left is the The Queen's Gambit guy on the right. And...and... I need to take a walk around the block to clear my head."

Others were less than impressed with the casting choice:

"It weirds me out that Benny from Queen's Gambit still looks like the kid from Love Actually dressed as an adult."

The Queen's Gambit follows the character of Beth from the age of nine to 22, as she tries to become the world's greatest chess player, while also struggling with emotional issues and drug and alcohol dependency. The story is set in the 1950s and 1960s.

Thomas Brodie-Sangster has also appeared in Nanny McPhee and Game of Thrones, while Anya Taylor-Joy has most recently been seen in Emma and Peaky Blinders.

The Queen's Gambit is available to stream on Netflix now.
