Horror Movie Orphan Is Getting A Prequel

Film fans, take note - the horror flick Orphan is now getting a prequel.

Titled Orphan: First Kill, creepy Esther (with original actor Isabelle Fuhrman reprising her role) manages to break out of the Estonian psychiatric facility that's holding her and travels to America by impersonating the missing daughter of a wealthy family.

However, Esther finds herself facing a formidable adversary, with her plan disrupted as she is pitted against a mother who will protect her family at any cost.

The upcoming film, scheduled for a 2021 release, will feature an all-star cast, with 10 Things I Hate About You star Julia Styles having signed on for the prequel, according to Deadline.

For those of you who missed out on the 2009 psychological horror flick, Orphan saw two bereaved parents adopt nine-year-old Russian girl, Esther, from their local orphanage.

The parents (played by Hollywood staples Vera Farmiga and Peter Sarsgaard) realise something is not quite right with their newly-adopted daughter, particularly after a nun at the orphanage warns of "bad things" happening in Esther's presence.

They eventually discover that Esther has hypopituitarism, a rare hormonal disorder that has left her physical growth stunted, and therefore has spent the majority of her life posing as a young child to worm her way into families.

The original Orphan film was a cult hit, grossing over $78 million (around £60 million) worldwide after its release.

Leonardo DiCaprio served as one of the film's producers.

In slightly more cheerful film news, Hugh Grant has since revealed that he is keen to do a sequel to Notting Hill.

The 1999 classic saw bumbling bookshop owner Will (played by Grant) fall in love with Hollywood starlet Anna Scott (Julia Roberts).

However, Grant is keen to stress that he doubts his sequel would be a rom-com.

"I'm sure that my character in Notting Hill and Julia Roberts' character have been through the ugliest imaginable divorce with really expensive, nasty lawyers," he told Collider.

Rather bleak news, Hugh - but we'll still be watching.
