With the global pandemic causing production delays to just about every show we love, horror buffs will be glad to know coronavirus hasn't managed to wrap its virusy hands around The Haunting of Bly Manor.

The sequel to Netflix's hit supernatural series The Haunting of Hill House was planned for this year - and fans will be delighted to know nothing has changed.

Speaking on CinemaBlend's ReelBlend podcast this week, director Mike Flanagan confirmed the joyous news.

"I don't expect it to be delayed one bit. We didn't really miss a step, believe it or not. We had already wrapped before the whole Covid shutdown hit all the productions," he said.

"We had a couple of weeks where we had to kind of figure out how to continue post remotely. But my post team also, you know, where I've been with now, my whole career, they cracked it real fast and we've been doing everything on these virtual sessions."

He went on: "I think Netflix, they haven't announced when it's coming out. They've got their own plan. But we've been jamming through post. It's been going great. It's definitely later this year. It's not going to get kicked off into 2021, or anything. Everything's on schedule. I'm really excited for you guys to see it."

Yessss!

Netflix confirmed the second series way back in February 2019, writing on Twitter: The programme's official Twitter account shared: "A new Haunting is coming. Can you guess where it takes place? Listen closely..."

It followed it with: "You guessed it. The HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR, a new chapter in the Haunting series based on the works of Henry James, is coming in 2020."

As for the plot, the new season will have no connection to the first, with new characters, a new storyline and a brand new creepy house, based on Henry James' 'The Turn of the Screw'.

It's an old novella horror from 1898 and the story centres around a governess who is sent to look after two children Flora and Miles, in a country house in Essex, Bly Manor.

The governess begins to notice strange figures creeping around the property, which nobody else seems to be able to see.

Creator Mike Flanagan told Birth.Movies.Death last year: "It's a cool way to expand on some of the things I loved about season one, but within the framework of a new story, without having to be restrained by the decisions we made last time."

While there's still no *official* release date on the movie, we're satisfied to know we'll be getting it somewhere in the next five months.

Until then, here's everything you need to know about the The Haunting of Bly Manor.
