'Frozen 2' Is Darker And Better Than The First, According To Reviews

It's been six long years since Frozen came along and up blew the box office with its lovable characters, incredible animation and catchy songs (children and adults alike were singing 'Let It Go' for months).

And now, its sequel is almost here - and early reviews are saying its better.

The long-awaited sequel, Frozen 2, is hitting cinemas on 22nd November, and lucky film critics are getting an early looks at the Disney flick. And so far, VERY good.

Some are saying the new film is actually even better than the first. Big claim, BIG claim.

Film critic Clayton Davis called Frozen 2 "the rare sequel that surpasses the original" adding: "The scope is twice as staggering, the action twice as thrilling, the auto-cannibalism sequences twice as harrowing, the songs twice as catchy."

He added: "Didn't think I needed a sequel to Frozen, but turns out I was very, very wrong."

Skyler Shuler, editor at The DisInsider, agreed, saying: "I can't believe I am saying this, but Frozen 2 is better than its predecessor."

Another running theme in the reviews was that the second instalment is far "darker" than the original.

"It's a darker, more complex and more emotionally mature story, continuing everything you love about the first movie and upping the ante while maintaining the intimacy of the original," said Draw Taylor, a critic from Moviefone.

Shuler added the film was "darker, a little more mature, but still an excellent film for families."

There's also a lot of chat about the soundtrack with power ballads set to match up to 'Let It Go', including a song called 'Into The Unknown' by Panic! At The Disco.

Frozen 2 is set three years after the events of the first film and sees Elsa embark on a journey north after she hears a strange sound calling her.

Along with Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven, the characters leave their home of Arendelle and embark on an adventure to discover the origin of Elsa's powers and ultimately save their kingdom.

Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad are all back to voice the characters.

If these reviews haven't got you giddy with excitement, maybe the fact there's just TWO WEEKS until it comes out might.
