Channel 5 has just released a first look at Sheridan Smith's new psychological thriller, The Teacher - and it looks like it'll be a seriously gripping watch.

You can see a first look, included in a round up of Channel 5's upcoming dramas, below:

The Teacher stars Sheridan, 39, as Jenna, a teacher who finds herself accused of a drunken sexual encounter with a pupil.

In the clip, Jenna can be seen in the classroom with one of her pupils, while in another shot, she appears to be in a nightclub with a student.

"You're so creepy, always trying to be friends with the kids... You slept with a child," a person can be heard saying.

"I didn't," Jenna replies. "I can live again, and I will."

"With no memory of the night in question, Jenna's only hope of redemption lies in uncovering the truth about a dark event in her past that returns to haunt her," the synopsis explains.

We've got a feeling we'll be glued to this!

The four-part series - which also stars Kelvin Fletcher as well as Sharon Rooney - is expected to air later this year.

And it's not the only gripping drama on its way. Channel 5 also gave a first look of Lie With Me starring Charlie Brooks who plays Anna Fallmont - a woman who moves to Australia with her family after infidelity rocks her marriage.

Meanwhile, Jill Halfpenny stars as Kate in The Holiday. Based on the book by T.M. Logan, the drama is set in the Mediterranean, where Kate finds out her husband is having an affair.

"The dream holiday quickly becomes a nightmare when she suspects the other woman is one of her best friends. As Kate closes in on the truth, she realises too late that the stakes are far higher than she ever imagined," Channel 5 explain.

Sebastian Cardwell, SVP, Deputy Director of Programmes said: "I'm excited to be bringing this wealth of talent to the channel and this trailer only gives a taste of what's to come from our upcoming Dramas in 2021. I can't wait for audiences to watch them later on this year."
