Leonardo DiCaprio, Ariana Grande, Matthew Perry and Meryl Streep are just four of the stars announced to be joining Jennifer Lawrence's new Netflix movie, Do Not Look Up.

The group will be starring in the comedy alongside Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, Rob Morgan, Himesh Patel and Timothée Chalamet in the movie, while Kid Cudi and Tomer Sisley will also feature.

The film had previously only confirmed Jennifer Lawrence in its lineup, but now it might well have one of the most star-studded casts in history.

Hunger Games star Lawrence will star as an astronomer who discovers a giant asteroid is hurtling towards the earth and could spell the end of humanity in six months' time.

The plot will then see scientists embarking on a trip around the country to warn people of their imminent demise.

But half the population not only don't believe them, but don't give a stuff...

"I'm so thrilled to make this movie with Jen Lawrence," McKay said earlier this year, when the film was first announced.

"She's what folks in the 17th century used to call 'a dynamite act. And the fact that Netflix sees this movie as a worldwide comedy sets the bar high for me and my team in an exciting and motivating way."

The movie was originally meant to begin production in April, but, as with much of the entertainment industry, the coronavirus pandemic put it on hold.

However, it wasn't all bad, as this delay in filming meant they had time to pull together an incredible ensemble cast, with stars from music, sitcoms and even Oscar winner Leo in the mix.

McKay previously directed hits like Step Brothers and Anchorman 1&2, so when it comes to comedy, you know he knows his stuff.

He'll be writing too, and co-producing alongside Kevin Messick (Vice).

The film is set to release on Netflix in 2021, so, that's something to look forward to next year.
