Disney Is Releasing A New High School Musical TV Series

Disney is bringing back the High School Musical franchise a decade after High School Musical 3:Senior Year as a 10-episode series.

However, don't get too excited as there wont be a Troy and Gabriella reunion as the series is going to have a whole new cast.

The series will be streaming exclusively on Disney's streaming service and will still be set in East High School, following the students as they stage a version of High School Musical featuring all of the songs from the original movies.

The series will revolve around YouTuber Ricky, who's been voted 'Most Likely to Sleep Through His Alarm' and is constantly trying to come up with get-rich-quick ideas.

However, he has a rival in E.J., the son of two powerful lawyers, who also wants to win Nini's affections.

Other new characters include Nini's understudy Gina (described as an 'entitled princess'), choreographer Vikram, Ricky's best mate Big Red, the school's new arrival Ashlyn and, Ms Darbus's replacement in the drama department, Miss Jenn.

Zac Efron couldn't be starring in films further from his role as Troy Bolton in High School Musical as he debuted a picture of himself as serial killer Ted Bundy in new film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

It's a bit of a change from his High School Musical days as Troy, as he'll be playing one of the most prolific serial murderers ever known.

Ted Bundy confessed to the murders of 30 different young women in the 1970s and possibly earlier, and was executed for his horrific crimes in 1989.

His then-girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer turned him in to the authorities, who for years refused to believe he carried out the murders.

Elizabeth is set to be portrayed by Lily Collins in the film, which will be told through her eyes.

Joining him in the film is Skins and The Maze Runner star Kaya Scodelario as Bundy's ex-wife.
