Everyone is obsessed with Bridgerton at the moment and fans of the show have noticed yet another unexpected connection between the Netflix series and the Harry Potter franchise.

Fans have just realised Prince Friederich in Bridgerton and Cormac McLaggen are both played by Freddie Stroma.

"THE PRINCE FROM BRIDGERTON IS FREAKIN MCLAGGEN FROM HARRY POTTER," said one excited Twitter user, with several crying emojis.

Another shocked viewer replied: "Oh my word".

A third person recognised Freddie from another role. They said: "And he was [in] one of the Cinderella movies. I couldn't take him seriously in Bridgerton because of the accent."

Freddie appeared as Cormac McLaggen in Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows parts 1 and 2.

We see Prince Freiderich in three episodes of Bridgerton. He is the Prince of Prussia and Nephew to Queen Charlotte (Golda Rosheuvel), who introduces him to Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor).

The Prince courts Daphne for a little while; he compliments her gown, they run into each other at an art gallery exhibition and he even asks her to dance. As fans of the show probably already know, Daphne's attention is purely focused on Simon (Regé-Jean Page)

Speaking of Regé-Jean, he also appeared in a Harry Potter film. He had a tiny role in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1. Unlike his future co-star Freddie, Regé-Jean had an unnamed role in the 2011 film.

"REGÉ-JEAN PAGE AKA THE DUKE OF HASTINGS AKA SIMON BASSET IS IN HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS," said one fan on Twitter.

The same user followed-up this tweet with another one which said: "He can be seen at the wedding next to Hermione when Kingsley sends his Patronus."

In other exciting Bridgerton news, it's been revealed that there could be a whopping eight seasons of the show.

Speaking to Collider, creator Chris Van Dusen said: "I feel like the first season was primarily about Daphne and her love story with Simon.

"But, this being a family of eight children and there being eight books, I would love to be able to focus and really tell stories and love stories for all the Bridgerton siblings. For each character, for sure."

When asked if that would potentially mean eight seasons, he replied: "I would love that. In success, I would love that."

Will we see more Harry Potter alumni in future Bridgerton seasons? You'll have to wait and see...
