American Horror Story fans... it's coming. The tenth season of the smash-hit series is officially on the way, and we've just been given our first sneak peak.

Yep, the FX and Netflix series has just released a poster, which shows a pair of hands clinging on to a muddy seaside verge for dear life, with the ocean visible in the background.

Ryan Murphy, who co-created the program with Brad Falchuk, shared the poster on Instagram and teased: "Things are beginning to wash up on shore..."

Eeeeek!

While we don't have an official air date for the next instalment of AHS, we know it's coming this year, and the show has debuted in September ever since season six, so it'll likely follow that same pattern.

The cast for the series was announced last month, and it's set to feature many of the most popular returning cast members, from Kathy Bates, Billie Lourd, Finn Wittrock, Angelica Ross, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson.

Adina Porter, Leslie Grossman and Lily Rabe will also be back, meanwhile Home Alone child star Macaulay Culkin is set to make his debut, too.

The casting announcement was made via a video of a dark and dingy beach, with the actor's names flashing across the screen to Orville Peck's Dead of Night.

The new series doesn't yet have a theme, but if these announcements are anything to go by we're guessing it's set on the coast... and it sure looks like it's going to be eerie as ever.

The news comes as the series was recently renewed for not one but *three* more seasons.

While we don't know what the new seasons will cover, (we don't even know the topic of season ten yet,) we do know that the witches from season three's Coven are likely to return again, after they popped back up in season eight's Apocalypse.

It is not unusual to see the season's interwoven in AHS, with folklore from each occasionally reoccurring.

Speaking about the decision to renew, John Landgraf, FX Networks and Productions chairman, said at the TCA: "Ryan [Murphy] and Brad [Falchuk] are the undisputed masters of horror TV, having created the anthological limited series with American Horror Story and sustaining its success for nearly a decade as FX's highest-rated series."

So much more spookiness to come.
