We’ve All Been Playing Uno Wrong This Entire Time

Everyone loves a good ol' game of Uno - but one woman has uncovered a little-known rule that could change how we play the game forever.

LaToya McCaskill Stallings, a teacher from Texas, says she was bored and ran out of things to read so decided to study the Uno manual when she came across the oft-ignored game regulation.

"So it's taken me 35 years on this earth to realize that I've been playing Uno wrong since I was a kid," LaToya wrote in the newly resurfaced Facebook post, which has been shared more than 160,000 times.

"Did y'all know that you can only play the Draw 4 Wild card if you have no other cards of the same color that can be played??! And if you suspect that someone has illegally played this card, they have to show you their hand.

"And if they in fact played the card illegally they must draw 4, but if not, the person who challenged the play must draw 6?"

Personally, we're stunned by this rule. It's a literal game changer.

And, indeed, the official Mattel rule book confirms LaToya's expert Uno sleuthing. "Only the person required to draw the 4 cards can make the challenge," the guide book adds, however.

LaToya wasn't the only one to be bemused by the hidden rule. "Thanks for sharing! I had NO IDEA!!" one said.

And some players said that, even with this new information, they're more than happy to stick with their old ways of playing the game. "Well damn, I've been playing wrong," another commenter wrote. "But I'm not switching it up now!"

Uno, originally developed in 1971, is one of the world's most popular cards game, having sold more than 150 million copies in more than 80 countries around the world.

Anyone fancy a game?
