Since his break-up with Megan Barton-Hanson, rumours have romantically linked Wes Nelson to his Dancing On Ice skating partner Vanessa Bauer. But now the former Love Island star has addressed the speculation again following a grilling from Phillip Schofield on today's This Morning.

Wes has now cleared up the rumours of a romance between him and the skating professional, explaining that his split with Megan had absolutely nothing to do with Vanessa. Megan also fuelled rumours by suggesting Vanessa had 'tactically' ended her own relationship shortly before her Dancing On Ice debut with Wes.

But speaking to Phillip and Rochelle Humes, who was standing in for Holly Willoughby, Wes explained that was "absolutely" nothing going on between the two of them.

"Absolutely not, no. You know that yourself Phil, you can see it's professional," answered Wes. "She doesn't stop, she's work work work, train train train. It's nothing like that, and it's never gonna be anything like that."

The former engineer explained that Dancing On Ice did play a part in his break-up with Megan though, but not in the way rumours have suggested.

Sitting on the ITV chat show's sofa, Wes explained: "[Dancing On Ice] was heavily involved, not in the way the media has made out though with Vanessa this and Vanessa that, it's not been anything to do with that.

"It's more so the fact that it's so time consuming and the fact I'm away from home all the time, and it makes it difficult to plan things ahead... with my schedule and with training it changes day by day, week by week."

He added: "When you come home you want to know that the three hours that you get home is quality time."

However, as Phillip pointed out that Dancing On Ice only has a duration of 10 weeks, Wes defended their break-up.

"You cant just say, 'Wait for me'," Wes explained. "If it's making you that upset and sad, who am I [to tell you to wait]?"

He continued: "I think she wishes that I didn't do Dancing On Ice, we wanted a simpler life... I'm a very driven person."

The Love Island couple announced the end of their relationship just two weeks ago, with Wes also revealing to Phil and Rochelle that Megan has now blocked him on social media.

This Morning airs on weekdays and Sundays at 10.30am on ITV.
