Love Island's Max Morley has spoken out after claims he told pals there's 'nothing there' in his relationship with Laura Anderson.

According to The Sun, the former Islander had plans to dump Laura following their romantic getaway to Barbados with Virgin Holidays after she played up the cameras too much.

However, Max has since taken to Instagram to deny claims their budding relationship is 'on the rocks', insisting they had a 'fantastic holiday' together.

"Just want to say a few words regarding stories released today!! Whoever the person is calling up the [tabloids] please to get a life it's embarrassing," he told his 272,000 followers.

"Just shows how stories can be fake news! Me and Laura had a fantastic holiday in Barbados and are very much looking forward to Christmas!

"We would like to keep our relationship as private as possible to stop stories like this being written! But to clarify me and Laura are good, Merry Christmas."

Max's bold statement comes after an apparently friend of his told The Sun: "Max has been voicing doubts about Laura for some time and when she invited him away he saw it as an opportunity to assess their relationship - as well as a freebie he couldn't turn down.

"Even though Max knew they had to do a photo shoot as part of the trip, he thought Laura was playing up to the cameras and it didn't sit well with him."

During the trip, the pair enjoyed a luxury dinner hosted by Richard Branson, alongside the likes of Pixie Lott, Laura Whitmore and Oliver Cheshire.

However, the source claimed Max and Laura started rowing after she made him leave the bash early, adding: "She'd struggled as it had been a 4am start and said she was feeling ill, but Max felt like he'd been dragged away because he was speaking to other people.

"After the trip, Max shared a group snap with Laura, Richard and their fellow celeb travellers on Instagram and highlighted his favourite moments from the trip, but deleted a couples' pic featuring Laura.

"She confronted him over text once she realised, saying it looked embarrassing for her.

"He's said she isn't for him and is looking to break things off."

Thank goodness Max has set the record straight.
