As if getting to see Beyonce and Jay Z live in concert wasn't incredible enough, one lucky teen was surprised with a $100,000 (£76,000) college scholarship - right in the middle of the concert.

The power couple were performing their On The Run II set at the State Farm Stadium in Phoenix, Arizona, when DJ Khaled returned to the stage for the 'best part of the night'.

Speaking to the crowd, he said: "On The Run II tour will acknowledge an extraordinary individual making a difference in this world.

"Tonight a student will receive a $100,000 On The Run II scholarship presented by the queen herself, Beyonce, and also the king, Jay Z."

Khaled then gave a big shout out to members of the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Phoenix, who were invited to the concert, revealing that the scholarship would be going to one of them.

After a tense few moments, Khaled revealed that the impressive scholarship would be going to Mikayla Lowry - an announcement that was met with rapturous applause.

"I'm so grateful, this is crazy," Mikayla said to a camera. "I didn't even expect this - I'm shaking!"

According to the BGCMP website, Mikayla is a senior at Trevor Browne High School and has excellent grades, with a 3.7 GPA.

She's currently dual-enrolled at Estrella Mountain Community College and will graduate this year with her completed Associates degree - and is the first in her family to attend college.

She later to pursue a degree in Marine Biology or Forensics at GCU or Northern Arizona University.

Not only does Mikayla have a big brain, but she also has the heart to match as she's spent many hours volunteering with BGCMP's Better To Give programme, where she serves in soup kitchens and shelters. After all that, it's hardly surprising that she was named Youth of the Year.

Throughout their tour, Beyonce and Jay Z will be surprising an exceptional student with financial needs in each of the 11 cities, planning to award a total of $1.1 million in scholarships.

What a great way to give back to their young fans.
