Chrissy Teigen has spoken candidly about knowing she will never be pregnant again.

The 35-year-old, who bravely documented how she lost her son Jack last year, admitted it had been hard to accept she will not be able to conceive another child.

"Coming to terms with not being able to carry again is still really difficult for me because I feel so healthy. I'm like, why?" she explained to People magazine. "But then I think about it as my uterus is just not cooperating with me - and it's not a failure."

Chrissy and her husband, John Legend, lost baby Jack while Chrissy was 20 weeks into the pregnancy.

The TV personality explained why she decided to share photos of the family going through this heart-breaking loss to her 34 million Instagram followers.

"I knew I needed to know of this moment forever," she said in a blog post at the time.

"And I absolutely knew I needed to share this story.

Directly addressing critics of the pictures, she wrote: "I cannot express how little I care that you hate the photos. How little I care that it's something you wouldn't have done.

"I lived it, I chose to do it, and more than anything, these photos aren't for anyone but the people who have lived this or are curious enough to wonder what something like this is like.

"These photos are only for the people who need them. The thoughts of others do not matter to me."

While Chrissy acknowledges the loss was hard, she is thankful for the health of her two children: Luna, four, and two-year-old Miles.

She added that, in keeping with her Thai heritage, the family have planted a tree outside their house to honour Jack.

"It's important for us in Thai tradition that we always embrace the ones we've lost, and they're never, ever gone. This tree being planted inside the home, the whole reason why I wanted it was so Jack's ashes could be in that soil and he could be with us all the time and grow through the beautiful leaves in this tree," she said.

"The way Miles and Luna talk about him is so beautiful and reminds me of when I was little talking to my grandpa who was just sitting bedside next to my mom in a little urn. It's all beautiful, and I love that tradition carries down."
