While any musician who has made it big obviously has managed to gather an incredible fan base, some musicians command a level of devotion from fans which goes beyond the norm.
Whether it's the OG super-fans with Beatlemania, or more recent fandoms with Adele and Beyonce, very much among them is Taylor Swift, whose fans are unflinching in their loyalty to the star.
But the singer's fans are so ardent that she's had to ask them to not go after her ex partners ahead of her new album Speak Now being released in July.

A video on TikTok shows the singer songwriter on stage during a concert as part of her Eras tour addressing her delighted audience before launching into a rendition of 'Dear John'.
Swift said: "I'm 33 years old, I don't care about anything that happened to me when I was 19 except the songs that I wrote.
"So what I'm trying to tell you is that I'm not putting this album out so that you should feel the need to defend me on the internet against someone you think I might have written a song about 14 years ago.

"I do not care, we have all grown up, we're good."
Swift's fans have previously rushed to her defence online when it comes to her public relationships and breakups, and things get even more heated when talking about one of Swift's current or previous boyfriends - especially when fans don't approve of whoever she is dating.
Things got particularly heated when rumours began circulating that Swift was dating Matty Healy of The 1975
Healy has proven a controversial figure, and fans were not happy at the rumours that Swift was dating him.

One group of fans even penned a letter saying that she should disassociate herself from Healy.
It read: “Use your platform responsibly and intentionally. Advocate for inclusivity, celebrate diversity and promote empathy and understanding.”
It added: "Your voice holds tremendous power, and right now, your silence is palpable. This silence sends a message of indifference, particularly to the fans who have supported you.

Swift has since reportedly ended whatever brief relationship the pair had, which came shortly after her split from actor Joe Alwyn, who she had been with for some six years.
The singer songwriter has also developed a reputation for memorialising her previous relationships in her music.
