A small social enterprise which helps tackle period poverty in the UK is taking its commitment to the next level by selling its eco-friendly products at Co-op stores nationwide.

Crafted from natural bamboo and corn fibre, Hey Girls' sanitary pads range is also chlorine and dioxin bleach free, with both the Overnight Sani pads and Menstrual Cups now available in store. The latter is 100 per cent medical grade silicone and hypoallergenic, too, so you've really got nothing to worry about.

Founded by Celia Hodson and her two daughters Kate and Becky, Hey Girls is a philanthropic business model designed to help girls and women in need around the UK. An idea inspired by Celia's own experiences of hardship as a single mum, it works on a 'buy one, give one' model, which means for every pack purchased, another is donated to someone who can't afford to buy sanitary products.

"Gaining a listing in one of the world's largest consumer co-operatives, owned by millions of members, gives us a real buzz," says Celia. "Co-op customers selecting a Hey Girls product in store know the more period products we sell, the more period product we can donate to their local community. Box for box. Simple - that's why we're different from all the other product manufacturers and why our values align completely with the Co-op."

"At Co-op we know that period poverty is a much wider issue across the UK and internationally," added Victoria Haigh, Category Buyer for Co-op. "We are proud of our partnership with Hey Girls, particularly as their 'buy one, give one' initiative aligns with our community values. We are delighted to list the brand at the Co-op knowing that the products will give back to the wider community."

The Daytime and Overnight Sani Pads will set you back just £3.25 for a pack of eight while the menstrual cups cost £8.95. But to know you're helping a disadvantaged female while making your purchase? Priceless.
