A creepy true crime documentary tells the story of two men who went missing on the Colorado mountains, just months apart from each other.
Tom Young and Keith Reinhard, 48, both mysteriously vanished while on holiday. Young was registered 'missing' on 7th September 1987 while Reinhard formally disappeared on 7th August 1988, meaning they met their respective fates just 11 months apart.

What Do We Know About Young And Reinhard?
Not a great deal is known about Young. He was pretty reclusive, and lived in a tiny town with a population of just 200 people. About a year before his disappearance, he opened up a bookshop in his picturesque hometown of Silver Plume, Colorado.

He had a few friends in the town, and seemed to be pretty well-liked. His best friend, however, was a dog named Gus, who he took everywhere with him. By early September 1987, Young shut up shop, told his friends he was jetting off on a European holiday, and took Gus away with him.
His friends didn't begin to grow suspicious of his whereabouts until three weeks into his trip.

Keith Reinhard, 48, worked as a sports reporter for a Chicago newspaper. After 23 years of service, he decided to take a three-month break in Silver Plume.

The town is situated in the middle of the Colorado rocky mountains, which was perfect for Reinhard. He had goals to get fit and overcome his fear of heights through regular mountain climbing. He planned to do this alongside writing a novel.
Reinhard aimed to eventually move to Silver Plume permanently, along with his wife, Carolyn. His dream was to run an antique shop for summer tourists,

The dust settled in Silver Plume pretty much immediately after the disappearance of Young. His bookshop was sold to a new owner, and his friends stopped looking for him.

Reinhard wasn't put off by his vanishing, and continued to climb the rockies whenever he had the opportunity. He was fascinated by Young's story, however, and aimed to write a character based on him into his novel.
On 31st July 1988 - 10 months after the disappearance of Young - two passers by found a skeleton perched against a tree. A canine skeleton was found a short distance away from him.
Each skeleton was found to have a gunshot wound to the head. They were later identified as Young and Gus - and their deaths were ruled a suicide.

Locals took the news with a pinch of salt. They didn't believe Young would deliberately do anything to hurt his dog; even if he had the desire to hurt himself.
On 7th August 1987, Reinhard decided to take a night-hike up to Pendleton Mountain. He set off on the six-hour-round trip at 5pm, allegedly claiming that he had a feeling he wouldn't return until much later that night.
He was never seen again.

The case has remained cold since the late '80s, and a body has never been found. The search was called off a week later after a search aircraft crashed into the mountains, killing one passenger.

Theories surrounding Reinhard's death are rife, with some conspirators claiming that he may have committed suicide because he wanted to play out his novel in real life.
Over 10,000 hours have been spent looking for him, to no avail whatsoever. Multiple documentaries have been made about the case, including an episode of Unsolved Mysteries in 1990.
