SATC Fans In Tears As Late Star Battles Illness In New Series

SATC Fans In Tears As Late Star Battles Illness In New Series

Willie Garson passed away in September.

Fans of Sex And The City who are waiting to watch new series And Just Like That should probably pack the tissues. The new TV series is set to be a heartbreaker.

Not least because it's the last time we see actor Willie Garson, who played Carrie's gay best friend Stanford Blatch.

The late actor passed away after a battle with cancer in September, leaving fans around the world in shock. The actor had never publicly revealed his illness, so the news was a surprise for many fans of the show.

The actor even kept the news of his cancer fight from his friends and co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristen Davies.

Willie was also in the middle of filming the new series when he passed away. As a result, he only appears in three episodes of the series.

For much of the filming, Willie reportedly kept his battle with cancer quiet before being forced to reveal all when it got 'bad enough'.

Actress Cynthia Nixon, who plays Miranda Hobbs, spoke out in an interview ahead of the new series airing. She described Willie as "full of joy, and so incredibly brilliant and smart."

She added: "We're also very grateful that we had a few days with him knowing that he was sick, and we could talk to him about it and he could talk to us about it. And that was a really important thing for all of us."

Eager fans that have already begun watching the series have been moved to tears at seeing friends Carrie and Stanford reunited on the screen.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "Love LOVE seeing him. Truly missed."

Another shared: "God bless Willie Garson."

A third added: "The loss of Willie Garson is devastating, and I'm sobbing at being reminded that he's gone."

Fans preparing to watch the highly-anticipated reboot should get ready for tears and heartbreak, as even the first episode is set to be a tear jerker.

Can someone pass us the tissues?
