This Morning Viewers Confused By Jodie Comer's 'American' Accent

Killing Eve star Jodie Comer sat down for a chat with Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby to discuss her brand new drama Help, however some viewers were left confused by the star's accent.

Jodie is known for playing the Russian assassin Villanelle in the award winning BBC drama, but during her interview on the This Morning sofa, she had some fans believing her normal Scouse accent had a slight American twang.

Viewers took to Twitter after Jodie's interview, with many concerned that Jodie may be "losing" her beloved Scouse accent.

One fan said Jodie's accent sounded "muddled" and compared it to an American accent.

While other fans expressed their worry. Another said: "Where's her Liverpool accent gone?"

A third wrote: "Jodie Comer is losing her Scouse accent," adding a crying emoji.

However someone else said: "OMG if you're not hearing Jodie's Scouse accent you need your ears syringed."

Jodie is starring in a brand new drama, Help, alongside Stephen Graham about the coronavirus pandemic.

The pair spoke about their experiences filming in Liverpool during the pandemic as well as how it felt playing carers.

Jodie’s character is a young care worker at a fictional came home who forms a close bond with a 47-year-old patient named Tony, who has early onset Alzheimer's.

Speaking to Tyla about the new drama, Jodie said she ‘loved’ being able to speak in her native Liverpudlian accent.

Jodie explained: "I loved filming in my own accent and it’s the first time I’ve been able to do it in a long time.

"It was so wonderful to do it and to do it with Stephen. My accent gets so much stronger when I’m with him so it probably got very out of hand!

"I think it was so nice to celebrate Liverpool as it's so rarely seen on television. I’ve very rarely been able to use my own accent, so there was something really special about being able to explore that side of myself and the women that I know, and the fire that I know so many of the women in my life have. It kind of felt like a celebration."

Help airs tonight at 9pm on Channel 4.
