Women are feeling empowered and 'ready to fight' following the release of the trailer for the fifth season of The Handmaid's Tale. Watch the trailer below.
Set to a cover of Christina Aguilera's anthem Fighter, the trailer begins in the aftermath of Fred Waterford's (Joseph Fiennes) murder.

Viewers will remember that Serena Waterford's (Yvonne Strahovski) husband, Fred, was brutally murdered by June and other former handmaids who had escaped the clutches of Gilead in the last season.
The final scene of the fourth season showed June's husband, Luke (O. T. Fagbenle) finding her covered in blood, holding her daughter Nichole in her bedroom. Luke sinks to the floor as he realises what has happened.
Meanwhile, Mark Tuello (Sam Jager) can be heard eerily adding: "A handmaid killing her commander, Gilead is not going to let that stand."
The official Handmaid's Tale twitter account asked tweeted: "They want to fight? Let’s fight."

Fans in the comments were more than ready to support June Osbourne (Elisabeth Moss) in the new season, with one fan writing: "LETS GOOO".
In response to the new trailer, another Twitter user declared: "THANK YOU! WE’RE READY"
A third fan shared: "I want Fighter by Christina Aguilera playing when Gilead falls! 'You thought I'd forget... I remembered'."
After fans compared the Supreme Court's decision to eliminate a woman's right to abortion to Gilead, one fan wrote: "I don’t know if I can watch anymore. It’s getting too real."

Millions of people in the US will lose the legal right to obtain an abortion after the Supreme Court's decision last month to overturn the milestone 1973 legislation that guarantees women the right to abort up until foetal viability.
Fans of The Handmaid's Tale instantly drew comparisons to the dystopian drama, which is set in a world where worldwide infertility has led to the enslavement of fertile women.

Both the series and the Margaret Atwood novel explore the resistance of women living in a totalitarian republic which is run by a dictatorship.
The lives of women, known as handmaids in Gilead, are confined to household roles and used as baby-making machines, with no control over their own bodies.
"We are living in the beginning of Handmaid’s tale," one viewer shared on Twitter. "Women can’t have control over their own bodies. Republicans take us backwards and it is a flagrant disregard for precedent by the Supreme Shackles."
