Did you even go to the cinema if you didn't buy a Tango Ice Blast? Mixed cherry and blue raspberry flavours, of course.

The sugary drink is a staple when it comes to a trip to the flicks, but fans of the iced drink have been left fuming after a major change to the recipe has announced.

Slush Puppie, the owner of the drink, has made the decision to make Tango Ice Blasts completely sugar-free, in order to meet new tax guidelines. Yup, sugar-free.

The Sun reports that Ribena and Irn-Bru have already cut the sugar in drinks to keep avoid the UK Sugar Tax, and now all of the core flavours of Ice Blasts as well as limited editions will be completely free of sugar.

The move was announced on the website for Slush Puppie - the license holder of the product.

The announcement read: "Tango Ice Blast, The UKs favourite fizzy frozen drink, is now available in No Sugar!

"After extensive product development, testing, and in-cinema trials we are really excited to announce your favourite cinema treat is now guilt-free. All core flavours and limited editions going forward will be No Sugar.

"Tango Ice Blast No Sugar will be available in the following cinemas: Odeon, Cineworld, Vue, Empire, Showcase, Reel. A large number of our Independent customers will also be changing over to No Sugar."

Tango Ice Blasts will now contain sucralose sweetener instead of sugar, which is arguably better for your waistline, but fans of the tasty frozen treat are absolutely fuming with the decision, and some are even declaring a boycott.

They blasted (geddit?) the decision on social media, with one outraged person questioning: "WTF is this?"

"DON'T DO IT!!!!!! HOW CAN I CHANGE THIS?" begged somebody else.

A third chimed in: "Not drinking these anymore. So stupid!"

While a fourth slammed: "RIP yet another victim!! Ragin'."

"@tangoiceblastuk I can't believe you've done this," vented a final.

Not everyone was so negative about the sugar-free move though, and plenty rejoiced at the fact they can new enjoy one while on a diet.

The recipe has been in development for some time now, so we're sure it will be just as yummy!

Best head to your local cinema to give it a taste test, ay?
