ASDA Is Now Selling A Roddy The Reindeer Cake For Christmas

Sorry Colin, but we've replaced you for the month of December.

Don't hate on us, but having spotted a Roddy The Reindeer cake in Asda, we've pretty much forgotten all about Colin The Caterpillar. Sorry Col.

We hate to be fickle, given that Colin has provided our birthdays with pure chocolatey joy since forever, but he's just not going to cut it during the festive period and instead we're replacing him with Roddy.

The cake looks super similar to the M&S original with chocolate sponge, chocolate frosting and an iced smiling face, except for the fact he's been made to look like a reindeer, complete with red nose and is available to buy at Asda.

He's also been topped with fondant stars that bring added festive feels.

And what's great about Roddy is that he also comes in a dairy and gluten free variety so he can be enjoyed by almost everyone and is just £6.

He's the ideal replacement too for a Christmas Yule Log, making him the perfect desert on 25th December, or for any festive party, or birthday throughout December.

The cake was first launched in 2017, returning again in 2018 as well as this year - so he's gone down a storm.

At the time of his original launch, Vicky Philips, Asda spokesperson for the Free From range, commented: "Christmas is all about fun and novelty - we've lived and breathed this to create Roddy.

"We believe everyone should be able to enjoy delicious treats and with our Free From variant, no one will miss out. We're expecting Roddy to melt a lot of hearts with his little red nose!"

ASDA also offers a 'Free From' dairy and gluten free option of Roddy (

And he's not the only sweet Christmas treat turning heads this season. Lidl has launched a dark chocolate and salted caramel melting cottage set to be a showstopper on the dining table for £6.99.

When you pour the chocolate provided (once heated) through the house's chimney, the dessert melts, blending with the mousse, salted caramel and cookie inside. Yum.

And elsewhere in the world of decadent treats, Krispy Kreme has released festive Biscoff parcel doughnuts, which sound dreamy.

Ahhh, we do love the season of over-indulgence.
