It's no secret that people don't like to have their snacks messed with. Regardless, companies still insist on mixing things up, and Nestlé has done just that to its Quality Street selection.

Quality Street is a staple of everyone's house at Christmas, and while it's not even summer yet, Nestlé is already making plans for the holiday season.

Fans aren't happy with the shake-up, though, as Nestlé plan to axe the beloved Toffee Deluxe, The Sun reports.

When they attempted to cut it three years ago, a social media campaign brought it back in 2017. Sadly, though, the fan favourite is set to be axed again, and replaced by the Chocolate Caramel Brownie.

The new sweet treat has a milk chocolate case with gooey chocolate-flavoured caramel in the centre. It's only limited edition and won't be in boxes permanently, so potentially Nestlé could bring back the Toffee Deluxe.

Twitter user kevssnackreview had some thoughts on the new flavour, writing: "Unfortunately by 'brownie' they just mean chocolate flavour caramel. It's very tasty, because chocolate caramel is always nice. There's just nothing remotely brownie about it".

Fans will also be disappointed to learn that this brings the varieties in a pack down to 12 after the Honeycomb Crunch was removed last year. It is thought the new flavour will be available to shoppers when the full Christmas range is rolled out later this year.

In an email, a Nestlé spokesperson told Pretty52: "Everybody's got a favourite Quality Street and the assortment has changed a lot over the years.

"Every now and then we like to introduce new exciting flavours to the mix and are certain that our delicious chocolate caramel brownie will be a hit for 2019."

Well, getting rid of everyone's favourite flavours is certainly one way to get their attention...
