Halloumi Burgers Are Coming To Iceland And They're The First Of Their Kind

Halloumi Burgers Are Coming To Iceland And They're The First Of Their Kind

Iceland has announced the launch of halloumi burgers - the first of their kind to hit UK supermarkets.

Priced at £2.50 for two, the frozen food giant is introducing chunky full-sized breaded cheese patties as opposed to the halloumi slices usually available in shops such as Lidl and Aldi.

Our obsession has reached new heights - last year, Las Banderas in London's Soho launched a pop-up bottomless brunch including all-you-can-eat halloumi.

And gift website Firebox also sells a DIY halloumi kit for devotees to conjure up eight batches of their very own for £22.99.

Along with Iceland, other supermarkets have expanded their cheesy offerings.

Tesco now sells halloumi fries - one of their popular Christmas picks - all year round.

And back in May, Aldi was forced to limit its own version of the snack to two boxes per person following their sell-out success.

Chippy lovers should hotfoot it to Morrisons instead - it offers hefty chunks of the cheese in beer-battered form for £2.50, providing a delicious vegetarian alternative to the seaside classic.

The high street is offering some pretty sweet deals considering the average price of the cheese is by 12 per cent from this time last year, according to data analysed by The Grocer.
