When Greggs launched their vegan sausage rolls the world went into meltdown. Vegetarian and vegans could finally see what all the fuss was about - and even meat eaters hailed them better than the real thing.

But little did we know this was only the beginning, as the baked goods brand is working on vegan versions of all their bestselling products. Yes, all of them.

After the incredible response to the sausage rolls, Gregg's chief executive Roger Whiteside has now revealed that developers are currently trying to produce vegan recipes for all their big hitters as we speak.

Speaking to presenter Nick Ferrari on radio show LBC, the big boss teased that they had another product in the pipelines that they expected to be just as successful.

While he refused to reveal the top secret details, he added: "I will say we are plugging away at seeing if we can come up with a vegan version of all our top-selling lines.

"Obviously people want a vegan option. If we can succeed in doing that and produce something that tastes just as good as the meat version, then that will sell very successfully.

The interview didn't give a time scale of when we can expect the products, but even the suggestion it's in the works is enough to send many into a frenzy.

While we don't know what meat substitutes the high street baker might use next, it will likely be Quorn given the popularity of their first product, which cost just £1 in store.

They teamed with Quorn for the sausage rolls, using mycroprotein and a delicious seasoning to replicate the meaty taste and texture.

Of course, there's a few people who took issue with the vegan sausage roll (*ahem* Piers Morgan). Tbh, that alone is enough reason to get us down to Greggs when the new products launch...
