Now that British summertime is almost here, we can finally start getting excited about the warmer months ahead of us.

And Brothers Cider has just brought out the perfect summer tipple that's nostalgically British - the fruity cider company is now selling bottles of parma violet-flavoured cider.

The drink combines the flavour of sweet violets with floral notes with traditional Somerset apples, and will quench your thirst this summertime.

Brothers announced the arrival on its website, saying: "We have super exciting news to tell you... we are proud to introduce a new member to our family. Parma Violet has arrived, a delicate flavour of sweet violets with a subtle hint of floral notes and delicious local Somerset apples.

"Brothers Parma Violet cider is perfectly refreshing and best served over ice."

The parma violet flavour isn't the only new addition to the Brothers cider range as the company has also launched a strawberries and cream version.

It doesn't get more British than strawberries and cream at Wimbledon, and Brothers has bottled up this flavour into a cider with fruity notes and vanilla.

Matthew Showering, managing director of Showerings Cider Mill, said: "We are very excited to be bringing two brand new flavours to our customers through our latest innovations.

"At Brothers, we are always looking for ways to think outside the bottle and resonate with our younger audience.

"With fruit cider's huge growth in the last year, and millennials constantly demanding new and exciting flavours, these latest additions felt like a no-brainer."

The ciders are now available in over 900 Greene King pubs nationwide, with prices starting at £2.50 per bottle. A Brothers spokesperson said the drinks will then launch into supermarkets, although it is not confirmed which ones just yet.

Almost everyone can enjoy the new flavours as both are gluten-free and suitable for vegans. Bottoms up!
