With Valentine's Day fast approaching, it's time to forget giant teddy bears and red roses. Ben & Jerry's has just announced that it's releasing a new flavour in the name of love and we'll be self-gifting this year.

It's buttery brown sugar ice cream with pink chocolate, salted caramel cups, a cookie swirl and pink topping and chunks - the new flavour is packed with lovely things and aptly named: "Topped Love is".

Lke engagement rings and Valentine's Day dinners out, the new flavour might seem like a bit of a splurge at £5.49 price tag per 500ml tub, which is more expensive than Ben & Jerry's traditional flavours (which retail at £4.50).

But considering some of the proceeds will go to the Refugee Action charity, it's worth it to spread the love to people seeking safety around the world - although the ice cream giant has not yet clarified a percentage.

The sweet-and-salty flavour is launching in February just in time for Valentine's Day across major UK supermarkets but the exact date varies so keep your eyes on the freezer section.

Spoiler alert: the cold and creamy treat isn't the healthiest containing 273 calories per 100ml portion or 1,365 calories for the whole tub - but hey it's got butter, sugar, chocolate and caramel. What did you expect? Treat yourself.

Rebecca Baron, Ben & Jerry's social mission manager, explained: "At Ben & Jerry's we're all about sharing the love, whether that's the love of ice cream or the love of one person for another.

"So we've unapologetically dreamed up a flavour straight from the heart to share a little love with our friends at Refugee Action for those who need it most."

Visit your local supermarket and keep your eyes peeled for the treat on sale from February at £5.49. And while you dig in, visit Refugee Action and leave a message of welcome to a refugee or someone seeking asylum.

It's all about love. And ice cream.
