Meghan Markle's make-up look for her wedding to Prince Harry was truly iconic, and now the Duchess of Sussex's make-up artist, Daniel Martin, has revealed the bargain product he uses to give her a glowing complexion.

In a new interview, the professional MUA explained that he uses a lot of skin care on the new royal rather than highlighter.

However, his favourite when working with the Duchess is Aquaphor, which retails at around £8.

Aquaphor is known as a healing ointment and is a thick, fragrance-free formula, mostly made up of petroleum which is used to protect and heal dry skin.

However, Daniel has revealed it can work similar to highlighter as long as you apply it to the five high spots on your face rather than as a moisturiser.

Speaking to E! News, Daniel said: "A lot of my highlighting is done with skin-care.

"When you think about it, using skin-care in lieu of make-up makes sense. For one, you're adding hydration to the skin, rather than potentially clogging your pores. And, glowing skin is simply the appearance of very healthy and moisturised skin.

"Before highlighters, you would do highlighting with Aquaphor. Aquaphor will give you that same texture, especially in a photo [when applied] on the high points of the face."

The make-up artist is open to sharing his beauty secrets for Meghan, as last week he revealed that he uses a 'selective placement of foundation' - this means he applies the base like a spot treatment to make her freckles stand out and then uses a brush to blend it out.

He also revealed he likes to user water-based foundations on the Duchess.

The MUA explained that Meghan likes to do her own make-up for big events, but still opts for the same freckle-enhancing coverage Daniel creates for her.

Daniel said that Prince Harry couldn't stop saying 'thank you' to make-up artist Daniel after the royal wedding in May.

Daniel told InStyle: "I know exactly what [Meghan] does and doesn't like. After the ceremony Harry kept saying thank you. He was thanking me for making her look like herself."

Explaining the inspiration behind Meghan's classic bridal look, he added: "The last thing you want [is] to look at your wedding pictures and go, 'Remember when highlighting was the rage?'

"At the end of the day, you want to look like your best self."
