Meghan Markle's favourite facialist has shared some beautifully simple - and affordable - DIY face mask tips that could help you get the glowing skin of a young royal.

Celebrity facialist Nichola Joss, who has clinics in London and New York, has worked with the 37-year-old actress-turned-Duchess along with A-List celebrities including Scarlett Johansson, Hilary Swank, Gisele Bundchen and Gwyneth Paltrow.

And now the beauty expert has revealed the at-home ingredients you can use to give your complexion a boost for the new year.

"At-home face masks are amazing, and I fully endorse them," Joss told Refinery29. "They're easy, free, and you have full control of the ingredients you're putting on your skin - which is why most of my clients love them."

The first ingredient she recommends is coconut oil, which works as a great DIY mask base, because "it mixes well with other ingredients to create a soothing, paste-like consistency".

Joss then suggests mixing in some turmeric, which would help to 'brighten and hydrate the skin'.

Then add rolled oats to help gently exfoliate the skin along with a blob of raw manuka honey. Sounds delicious!

Finally, the celebrity facialist says using egg whites on the face can help to brighten your skin.

And this isn't the first time the Duchess of Sussex has been linked with affordable cosmetics.

After her wedding to Prince Harry last year, Meghan's make-up artist Daniel Martin revealed that he used a bargain £8 Aquaphor skin balm instead of a highlighter to give her a glowing complexion.

Explaining the inspiration behind Meghan's classic bridal look, he told InStyle: "The last thing you want [is] to look at your wedding pictures and go, 'Remember when highlighting was the rage?'

"At the end of the day, you want to look like your best self."

Even if we can't all bag ourselves a prince, it's nice to know that we can at least have lovely, vibrant skin without breaking the bank.
