Holographic Rose Quartz Is The Hair Colour You Need To Try ASAP

It might feel like summer is already on the way out, but there's no reason we have to look autumnal just yet.

Bright, coloured hair is still very much in - and the latest trend might just be our favourite yet.

Introducing holographic rose quartz hair dye, the most recent colouring style to take over Instagram.

This look essentially elevates the classic peach and pink looks we typically see when the weather gets warmer, and spices them up with varying tones of the same colour interspersed across the head.

There isn't one right way to do it, but, essentially, you want to be asking your hairdresser to scatter the colour throughout your hair, rather than styling it all one shade.

You achieve this holographic look by building the colour up in certain areas, using multidimensional metallic or pastel highlights, placed so it looks like the colour is shifting across your tresses.

Speaking to Tyla, hair colouring expert Anne Veck of Anne Veck Salon in Oxford offered some advice on how to achieve the look.

"Ideally the client should ask for a touch of pink almost like a tie dye," she said.

"The touch of pink must be very pastel for the success of the style."

Anne added that "educating the client is going to be important for this look", as it must be done on pre-lightened hair in order to achieve the desired pastel hues, and ensure they pop.

Tina Farey, editorial director at Rush Hair, added that we should be asking for hairdressers to form the 'prism effect'.

To do this, stylists can "paint shades of tonal colour onto the hair freehand."

"Using foils like when creating traditional highlights or streaks won't work here, as a three-dimensional look is needed," she said.

"Iridescent textiles pick up light in small sections, highlighting the creases and folds, so in order to work we need to create the same effect in the hair."

She added: "With something as fun and creative as this, definitely bring in some photographs of what you're wanting to achieve, your stylist can then work to your brief but add in their own flair, leaving you with a gorgeous style that no one else will have!"

We're deffo trying this look out. After all, who needs the stone of love in their pocket when they're basically wearing it on their head!
