The Beautyblender has been a staple in our make-up bags since they arrived to answer all our beauty prayers a couple of years ago.
In that time, we feel like we've got them pretty much worked out, wetting it before we use it, dabbing it onto our skin, and cleaning it after each use (most of the time), but apparently there is another trick we're missing.
Speaking to Byrdie, Lijha Stewart, director and educator of Makeup For Ever, shared a time saving hack for applying primer and foundation.
Most of us would probably apply primer first with our hands or a brush and then use the beauty blender to apply our foundation, however we could be doing it all wrong.

Lijha explained that if you apply your primer straight to the sponge and rather than blending it straight on our skin, we should also add foundation to the sponge on top of the primer so they can mix together.
According to Lijha, adding the primer step means there will be even less makeup absorption and the primer also blends with the foundation while you dab the sponge on your face, ultimately resulting in a better overall application.
She also added that she doesn't like to apply primer directly to the skin because it can sometimes cause a slippery barrier.

She also stressed the importance of wetting your blender before use, but I think most of us know that by now.
Using your sponge while it is dry doesn't allow it to perform to it's full potential, when you wet your blender the open cell structure of the sponge fills with water and less makeup is absorbed as a result.
