An influencer has hit back at ‘insecure’ trolls after being slammed for modelling women’s bikinis, saying there are ‘many different types of women’.
Moana Bikini recently posted a video of model Jake Young as he posed in the ‘Sugar Slinky One-Piece'.
“OBSESSED WITH THIS LOOK,” the company wrote on Instagram as it shared the clip, which showed Young strutting his stuff in the gorgeous white swimwear.

While the post racked up thousands of likes, the comments section didn’t prove to be quite so positive – with many people even vowing to boycott the brand.
“Why would you want a MAN to advertise a bikini for WOMEN?” one fumed, with another writing: “Is that a man? I thought you were about empowering women?
“Men seem to be trying to take over everything women hold sacred. Our safe spaces, our identity and now our fashion.
“I’m sorry you support whatever you like but I don’t agree with men in women’s swimsuits and trying to market it towards women. I’ve been a loyal customer for ten years but I’m done.”

A third added: “You literally have no respect for a large portion of your consumers. If you promote diversity... if you support diversity... you really shouldn't be cr**ping all over the convictions of your Christian followers.”
Others defended Moana and Young, saying the bathing suits are ‘for anyone who wants to wear them.'
“These comments are weird,” one said, going to ask: “Why does someone in a bathing suit bother you so much lol.”

Another agreed: “People are really hiding their true colours behind their ‘this is a women's brand designed to empower women’ comments.
“We see plenty of women in Moana swimwear and showcasing an incredible man wearing a piece of literal CLOTHING does not take the empowerment away from women.
“Good on you, team - empowerment can be extended to everyone without taking from anyone.”
Someone else also wrote: “The trans/homophobia in this comment section is very much not passing the vibe check.”

Young even went on to address the backlash himself, saying the criticism was simply a reflection of other people’s ‘insecurities’.
He wrote in a comment: “There are many different types of women. Women with different anatomy to what you consider ‘normal’.
“I am not a woman nor have I ever claimed to be. This post is simply empowering a minority and I’m forever grateful for that.

“Your hate is a reflection of your own insecurities, not mine.”
Moana Bikini also defended the model, writing: "If Jake in our bikini upsets you that much we feel as though this may be a you problem."
