The Big Bang Theory's Mayim Bialik - famous for her portrayal of Sheldon's socially awkward girlfriend Dr Amy Farrah-Fowler - has announced she will be writing and directing her first feature film, titled As Sick As They Made US.
The comedy will detail the journey of a recently divorced woman trying to juggle her personal life with work, and it sounds right up our street.
Based on some of the actress's own experiences, the film will touch on themes such as mental illness and grief.
It will follow the divorcee as she attempts to help her estranged brother say goodbye to their dying father.

In an interview at the Toronto Film Festival, Mayim spoke about her own exposure to mental health problems and how this experience has helped guide the film's narrative.
"After my father's passing four-and-a-half years ago, I decided to explore the complexity of mental illness and familial responsibility - especially as it falls on women," she said.
Writing about issues close to your heart however, doesn't come without its challenges - something The Big Bang Theory star alluded to during the interview.
"Growing up surrounded by mental illness is not something that is easy to write about, nor is it easy to live through," she said.

Nonetheless, covering these kinds of issues are very important to the newly turned writer/director, as is the exploration of how children are made to deal with these very tricky situations.
"The challenges ripple out into the lives of children immersed in these families even as they try to make their own lives apart from the challenges they grew up with," she contends.
The star says she also hopes to convey the complexities of family love; adding in the interview that she wanted to show how a family learns to love and live life again after experiencing a particularly painful death.
Mayim's announcement follows the end of the much loved American comedy, The Big Bang Theory, which recently finished after running for 12 seasons.
