An 11-year-old boy with Autism has penned a heartfelt letter to The Chase and I'm A Celebrity star Anne Hegerty.

Anne who was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome in 2007 opened up in last night's episode about her condition and how it may affect her time in the jungle.

After watching The Governess in the jungle, Joseph Hughes wrote a letter to Anne which was shared by his mum on Twitter.

Joseph wrote: "To Anne, my name is Joseph Hughes and I am 11. I live in Preston, Lancashire and I go to a specialist school. I was diagnosed with autism when I was 5. I like to watch you on The Chase.

"And now, I have been watching you in the jungle. I couldn't go in there because there are too many bugs. You are very clever.

"Sometimes people are mean to me because I am autistic but watching you makes me see that other people have autism too and maybe I can have a cool job like you when I am older. So you like Thunderbirds? I love them.

Anne opened up about her Asperger's in last nights episode. (

"My favourite is Thunderbird 2. I have drawn you a picture, I hope you like it. Good luck in the jungle, I hope you like it. Love from Joseph."

Since sharing the letter, Joseph's mum Kate has been overwhelmed with messages from strangers and has even been contacted by the creators of Thunderbirds to send Joseph a treat.

Last year's queen of the jungle Toff also shared the letter with her followers, and said it gave her goosebumps.

On last nights show, Anne explained that her Asperger's makes her extremely unorganised meaning she has a 'cluttered' house and won't let anyone visit.

She also admitted that she is 'faceblind' meaning she could get 'some of the campmates mixed up'.

Anne found her first day in the jungle particularly challenging when she was forced to blindly stick her hand in a box full of of spiders and crabs before swimming across a lake.

After arriving at Snake Rock Anne broke down in tears after the challenging day and while some fans started to compare her to TOWIE's Gemma Collins who quit in 2014 after three days, Anne's supporters pointed out the difficulties she faces living with Asperger's.

Anne's fellow chaser, Jenny Ryan, took to Twitter to say how 'proud' she is of The Governess for stepping out of her comfort zone and being 'incredibly brave and challenging herself.'
