A new Trevor McDonald documentary on the heinous crimes of Fred and Rose West is now set to air in two weeks.

The programme was pulled last minute by broadcaster ITV due to legal reasons last week, and it was unclear when the show would make it back into the schedule.

ITV said: "Broadcast has been postponed for legal reasons and the film will be scheduled for a later date."

However, the documentary will air on Thursday, 21st February at 9pm on ITV, according to reports.

Fred and Rose West: The Real Story is fronted by Sir Trevor, giving an insight into the minds of two of the most notorious serial killers in British history.

The couple's crimes committed between 1967 and 1987 shocked the nation when they were discovered years later.

Between them, the Wests are believed to have horrifically murdered 12 young women in their now-demolished Gloucester home, dubbed the 'House of Horrors' by the media and public.

Viewers will learn of never-heard-before details through exclusive interviews, including with the sisters of one of the victims, Juanita Mott.

The couple's youngest son, Barry, will also shockingly allege that his mum was "actively involved" in the murders.

Rose was found guilty of 10 murders - one of the victims included her own daughter, Heather, who was buried beneath their patio. Rose was sentenced to life behind bars in 1995 for her horrific crimes, and she is 65-years-old now.

A description of the documentary reads: "A quarter of a century on from the discovery of the Wests' extraordinary crimes, in which they murdered young women and girls and buried the human remains under their home at 25 Cromwell Street in Gloucester, people at the heart of the story speak for the first time.

"Exclusive contributors include former Cromwell Street lodger Jayne Hamer who speaks of hearing screams from the cellar, and tells Sir Trevor how she feels lucky to have left the house alive.

"We also hear from families of murder victims, including two sisters of Juanita Mott in their first documentary interview. Their sister went missing in 1975, aged eighteen, and her remains were among the nine found at Cromwell St in 1994. Three more sets of human remains were found elsewhere bringing the total number of victims to twelve.

"Trevor McDonald asks the key questions: how did these crimes go undetected for so long, and what role did Rose West play? Viewers will see fresh evidence indicating that at times Rose may in fact have been the driving force in these horrific crimes."
