British mentalist and illusionist Derren Brown has announced his new show will be released onto Netflix next month.

Posting about the exciting news on his Twitter page, Derren shared little details about the programme, although did reveal its title: Sacrifice.

And in Derren's words, it will 'drop' onto the subscription streaming service on Friday, 19th October.

"Excited to announce that my first brand-new special for a few years, SACRIFICE, will 'drop', as they say, on Netflix OCT 19TH," the illusionist shared on Wednesday.

He continued: "Am thrilled to have made it for Netflix. Making it was an extraordinary journey, and for the unwitting subject of the project, it was life-changing."

Fans were quick to react to the announcement, with one person exclaiming: "It's in my diary!!! Omg omg omg."

"WOW YES YES YES!! October is getting better everyday!" added a second, while a third declared: "Yessssssssssss. I've been waiting for something new from you. Can't wait for this. What a time to be alive!"

Derren's last TV show, Pushed To The Edge, aired in 2016, in which he investigated the powers of social compliance, meaning some new material feels well overdue.

In the special show, Derren orchestrated a 'meticulously planned and rehearsed' scenario, which saw a cast of 70 actors push victim Chris Kingston - who had no idea he was being filmed - to breaking point.

The programme description explained: "[Derren] exposes the psychological secrets of obedience and social compliance.

"He expertly lifts the lid on the terrifying truth that, when confronted with authority, our natural instinct is to unflinchingly obey without question - to such an extent that even the most moral people can be made to commit the most horrendous acts, simply because they are told to do so."

The show was re-titled and released again on Netflix in February of this year as The Push.
