TUI has announced that holidays will resume to eight destinations from as soon as 11th July, as coronavirus restrictions become less strict.

The travel company says Brits will now be able to fly to the Canary Islands, the Balearics and Greece from three airports across the UK.

As many as 44 flights will be running from Palma, Corfu, Crete, Kos, Rhodes, Lanzarote and Tenerife weekly.

TUI has plans to increase the number of holiday destinations on offer by the end of July, should restrictions continue to reduce.

Currently, holidaymakers can fly from Manchester, Birmingham and Gatwick, with two more UK airports also in the pipelines for next month.

As part of its bid to return to a new normal amid the ongoing coronavirus crisis, TUI has also released a 'holiday promise,' vowing to take people to destinations which don't require a quarantine, and promising in-resort support networks, too.

It also listed brand new health and safety measures, including compulsory face masks on all flights, digital check in, brand new air filtering systems on fights, increased disinfecting of aircrafts and social distancing measures in all hotels.

Planes will also provide hand sanitiser for all travellers, and passengers will be encouraged not to move around the cabins, while air stewards will monitor toilet queues to ensure they don't get too long.

Plus, hotels will also offer hand cleaning products and will be fitted with social distancing markings to keep guests as safe as possible, while restaurants will include fewer tables and be open longer hours to avoid overcrowding.

Importantly, the holiday company promises full cash refunds or credit notes for those whose trips may be cancelled due to a coronavirus outbreak.

Andrew Flintham, Managing Director of TUI UK and Ireland, said: "We're really excited to be talking about taking people on holiday again.

"We're of course still waiting on the Government to change its travel advice but we've been working really hard behind the scenes and we're ready to start taking holidaymakers away again in just a few weeks' time. Initially, we are focussing on destinations where we anticipate air bridges being in place, such as Greece and Spain.

"But we know many Brits are eager to travel again, and we have ambitious plans to rapidly increase our programme as soon as possible, to offer even more choice when it comes to holidaying this summer."
