Ryanair Has changed Its Baggage Allowance Again, But How Will It Impact You?

This November Ryanair is making even more changes to what you're allowed to bring onboard.

Ryanair announced it's cutting its baggage allowance for the second time this year, which means from November, you'll be able to take even less on holiday with you than you can right now - unless you cough up some more cash, of course.

The budget airline famously wants to charge for everything, and even once suggested removing seats so passengers could stand-up during the flight.

Now, from the 1st November, unless you've paid £6 for priority boarding, you'll only be able to take a single handbag-sized carry on with you onto the plane.

So what can you take on-board with you now, and what's changing? Here's our handy guide to help Ryanair passengers understand the new rules.

What does Ryanair offer currently (this will change)?

You can bring one small bag on-board. This must be no bigger than 35x20x20cm and must fit into the seat in front of you.

You can bring another bag with you, but it will be taken from you and checked into the hold free of charge. You are not allowed to bring this bag on-board and it must be no bigger than 55x40x20cm. Expect this to be taken from you at some point during the boarding process.

Passengers who bring larger bags than the 55x40x20cm permitted might have to pay a fine at the departure gate.

If you pay £6 for priority boarding, you can take both bags into the cabin, even if it's a wheelie case. The small bag will go under the seat in front of you and you'll be able to put the wheelie case in the overhead locker. If the extra piece of luggage doesn't fit into the bag sizer at the front gate you might be charged a fee.

What you can expect from 1st November?

On the 1st November 2018 Ryanair's cabin luggage rules will change. Non-priority customers will be able to bring just one small cabin bag onto the plane for free. This will measure 40cm x 20cm x 25cm, slightly larger than the cabin bag permitted now. This must go under the seat in front of you.

You will not be allowed to bring a second bag with you for free.

However, if you're a priority customer, and have paid £6 for priority boarding, there will be no change, other than a small increase in the smaller bag size. You will be able to bring two bags (a smaller bag and a wheelie case) into the cabin.

What if you want to add more luggage to your flight?

If you're a non-priority customer, you can add a 10kg bag for £8 when you book, or £10 after booking. If you want to put a 20kg bag into the hold, it costs £25 when you book, or £40 after booking.
