What did Paris Hilton, Jessica Simpson and Hilary Duff have in common in 2004? Aside from super low-rise jeans, halter tops and chunky highlights - they all had a Motorola Razr.

And now the flip phone is reportedly making a comeback with a 2019 upgrade. Iconic.

According to reports from the Wall Street Journal the nostalgic handset, which launched 15 years ago, may return as soon as February. But sources said the release date is subject to change and no official announcements have been made.

For those of you who don't remember Razr is pronounced 'razor' and is already being tested by Lenovo, the Chinese company that owns Motorola.

Although you'd probably welcome the return of snake (simpler times) the phone will probably need a good camera upgrade, 4G access and the ability to download apps. One thing we do know: the throwback flip gadget will feature a touch-sensitive, foldable screen and - get this - a very modern price of £1,500 (which puts the iPhone in the shade).

That's nearly triple the price of the original Razr model: a Vodafone contract in 2004 would have cost you about £530 over 12 months (those were the days).

Folding phones are making something of a comeback in 2019 with several tech makers vying to release a gadget with a foldable screen.

The Royole FlexPai claims to be the first foldable smartphone, and was shown off at the CES 2019 tech show in Las Vegas earlier this month.

Although it's technically a very thick phone the device actually has a large tablet-sized display.

But impressively Royole, a largely unknown tech company based in the USA and China, beat the world's biggest tech giants to the finish line on folding phones.

Samsung has been working on upgraded foldable handsets for years, but won't debut its version until later this year.

If you're interested you need to act as soon as an announcement is made. It looks set to be a limited release, because Lenovo are apparently only planning to make 200,000 handsets.
