Apple Has Released New Emojis For World Emoji Day Including A Bulb Of Garlic And An Adorable Sloth

Apple has unveiled a slew of new emojis for 2019 to mark World Emoji Day - including a sloth, falafel and garlic.

According to Emojipedia, the new additions were approved by the Unicode Consortium earlier this year and will appear on northern hemisphere Apple devices in Autumn.

Thrillingly, it's not only the sloth that will feature on iOS, as a flamingo, guide dog, skunk, orangutan join the emoji family.

Otter lovers among us don't despair as an emoji of the mammal has been approved for release but has not yet been unveiled by Apple.

Several food-related emojis have also been teased and include an ice cube, garlic, butter, falafel and a waffle while an oyster, a juice box and popular South American drink Mate are on the roster.

A number of clothing items will also be added and include a sari, safety vest and one-piece swimsuit, while musical instrument banjo, a person parachuting and a kite are all lined-up for release too.

The 2019 update will "focus on greater human representation", adding emojis of people in wheelchairs as well as one with a cane and hearing aid to the platform.

Currently the latest emoji accessibility options include a prosthetic arm, leg, people in two types of wheelchairs, people who are deaf and those using a cane.

Finally, the option to alter the skin tones for people holding hands will be a welcome update for those not represented by the default-yellow option.

Currently, users are unable to change the skin tone of any emoji that includes more than one person, including families, couples and even the handshake, which are limited to yellow.

While they have yet to be shown, "two people holding hands with a gender inclusive appearance" are also on the list for 2019.

We have a feeling our conversations are about to get a lot more animated!
