Feel like you're spending countless hours dropping your kids off to school, dance class and for sleepovers with friends?

Well, the taxi of mum and dad no longer has to be a one-way street as Škoda has launched a free app that allows parents to charge their children household chores in exchange for lifts.

The 'Parent Taxi' app acts as a taxi meter to keep track of how far parents have travelled and converts it into helpful jobs their teens can do around the house to pay them back.

Launched yesterday (16th July), the app sends kids a receipt directly to their smartphones after parents have finished chauffeuring them around town.

And if they fail to finish the chores, parents have the option to shame their offspring and post uncompleted tasks, such as cleaning their bedroom or doing the dishes, directly to their children's social media accounts.

As the saying goes, 'Hell hath no fury like a mother dealing with an unkempt bedroom' (actually we made that up).

The new app comes as Škoda revealed UK parents approximately drive 1,648 additional miles a year chauffeuring their children around - the equivalent of £12,565 if London taxi rates were applied.

The Czech automaker's research also found that 66 per cent of parents felt that they acted as a taxi service for their kids as they spend approximately three hours a week driving them around.

Mummy blogger Jo Middleton tested the app, which is available on iOS and Android, and said it's "the app she's been waiting for."

"It's true that kids generally have a better social life than adults and as result that can mean a lot of car journeys each week," she said.

"Although I love encouraging them to get out and do more, I think it's a great idea to swap miles for some help around the house in return."

If you're a teen, be afraid, be very afraid - because all those lifts are coming back to haunt you!
