Rebecca Tafaro Boyer had just returned back to work after maternity leave and her husband David was sending the new momma hourly updates on their baby son William.
David sent Rebecca a photo of sleeping William in his car seat along with a message, which read: "Little man is out. We are running errands today."
Rebecca from Texas, replied back noticing something wrong with Williams car seat.
She said: "That chest clip isn't high enough or nearly tight enough it needs to be at nipple level."
However 15 minutes later, Rebecca received a phone call from a panicked David saying they had been in a car crash and their Volkswagen Jetta was a write-off.
The father and son were three miles from their home when they were involved in a collision with a woman who pulled into oncoming traffic.
David had to slam his brakes at nearly 50 miles per hour before he collided with the front passenger side door of her SUV.
His foot was broken in three places and some of his toes had been dislocated from the impact of the crash.
Thankfully baby William had slept through the whole thing as he was so well restrained in his car seat.
William was taken to the hospital to be checked over but he was absolutely fine and Rebecca has now shared her story to warn other parents.
Rebecca told PRETTY52: "I think this story is important because it's something that can happen to anyone anywhere. There are millions of people that aren't aware of the risks posed by placing their child in a car seat incorrectly - or even that they are doing it incorrectly! And that doesn't make them bad parents, it just makes them human.
"As parents, educating ourselves about car seat safety is something so simple that we can do to prevent something catastrophic."
